How to File a Complaint
If you would like to complain about service you have received from a Los Angeles Police officer, please follow the instructions below.
The LAPD accepts all complaints, including anonymous complaints, and those made in person, by phone, fax, email or letter.
Complaints are investigated by the Department’s Internal Affairs Group. To file a complaint, you may:
Call the LAPD’s complaint hotline: 1-800-339-6868
Ask to speak to a supervisor at any LAPD station.
Pick up a complaint form at the OIG, Police Commission, any City Council Office, or LAPD’s Internal Affairs Group
Call the OIG: (213) 893-6400
Visit any LAPD Community Police Station and speak directly with an LAPD supervisor, regardless of where the incident occurred
Complaints of misconduct are investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department. The Office of the Inspector General can oversee and review complaint investigations.
If you have a complaint to file, you may call us at (213) 893-6400, and we will facilitate a transfer of your phone call to Internal Affairs Group. Any written correspondence we receive in connection with a complaint will also be forwarded to the Internal Affairs Group.
