Community Relations and Strategic Initiatives Section
The Community Relations and Strategic Initiatives Section constitutes the office’s primary conduit to the community and oversight stakeholders. Section representatives are responsible for responding to inquiries from a wide variety of individuals and groups, including community members, government officials, press, academics, outside oversight agencies, and other vested stakeholders. The Section frequently updates these stakeholders about the office’s work through a variety of channels, including the OIG’s email distribution list and social media accounts.
The Section is also responsible for completing special projects, at the direction of the Inspector General or Police Commission, that focus on specific areas of public concern.
Recent projects completed by the Section include:

The creation of the OIG mobile phone application, available on the iPhone and Android platforms

Development and production of video clips about the OIG and the LAPD’s Categorical Use of Force investigations
